Remove top exhaust manifold heat shield and inspect exhaust manifold for cracks. Very common for this exhaust manifold to crack near upper oxygen sensor boss. OEM is one piece exhaust manifold/catalytic converter.

What came in the box? Were additional nuts, bolts, sealant, etc. needed for the repair?

Need to assemble exhaust manifold to catalytic converter. Bolts, flange gasket, and nuts are supplied. Also need to install lower exhaust studs where "A" pipe connects. Studs and nuts supplied. Also comes with exhaust manifold gasket and crush gasket for "A" pipe flange. Need to reuse exhaust manifold nuts.

Repair / Installation tips:

Special tools needed? Have to remove other parts to reach this one? Any left-hand threads, sharp edges, messy fluids or other pitfalls to avoid?

Remove lower splash shield from front end. Remove and reinstall assembly from underneath. Remove two nuts on "A" pipe support bracket to facilitate removal and reinstallation.
Also recommend purchasing Walker P/N 31586 to replace supplied crush gasket for "A" pipe flange. Supplied gasket was damaged from bouncing around inside of box and appeared to be of low quality. No problem with installation, very good fit.
